And there’s the crazy. Given what little we know about him, I’d found Sovereign to be rather identifiable.
I think most readers would find the basic idea of a gadgeteer identifiable. In my own case, I’ve got a small fascination with automating things so no sentient agency is needed to still get acceptable outputs. And I’m a misanthrope.

I was thinking that Sovereign was an alternate Bowser. Arch-enemy of Princess Peach and all.
